![]() ![]() LR6 is 64bit, but the crummy Adobe update software component is not. I’m also not sure how LR6 will handle the change. Like say Raw Power if one is an Aperture fan. What Catalina will do is stop running 32bit apps. At least with software like Lr you can use a stripped down version for free, and something else for say developing raw. If one wants a somewhat smaller feature set there are alternatives, just as with computers, cameras, lenses, and accessories. Wine is a multiplatform reader that can run programs designed for Windows. But hey, the photo world is rife with choices like this the "pro" options cost. If you use Catalina (or a newer version). Might have been part of Apple's reason to jettison Aperture vs say an Aperture Classic and Photos cloud option a al Adobe's. I thought when Adobe dropped CC vs Classic there'd be a lower cost option for just CC, but since it's kind of like Photos in being a frontend to a cloud data subscription, looks like that won't happen. The more valuable part of Adobe's Photo plan is Photoshop. But in any case, your friend is doomed because it's ending and they'll either have to perpetuate old hardware and software and systems to run it or move on. I can't imagine what of any significance there could be in ancient Aperture that can't be found in current equivalents.
